This group of paintings, drawings and prints spans the last year and half of my work in New Mexico, Croatia and New York.

The ten pieces offered in this year’s Winter Studio Event are selected from various bodies of work I completed in the last year and a half.  This year, I drew inspiration from the Sangre de Cristo mountains, where life is slow, allowing one to finish one’s thoughts, and pause from time to time to enjoy the strong beautiful land. The Taos plaza and its Saturday markets are a rich joyous tapestry of color, sound, and aromas that weave through the warm Summer and Fall days. I appreciate the life of that plaza. Then there is a sprinkling of themes from my native land of Croatia in this group of paintings – the green misty mornings of Zagorje and the quiet lanes of my favorite seaside town.

This Summer and Fall I spent some time in New York City and started working on a series of paintings from various windows – I am most intrigued by the water towers – their iconic, timeless shapes interrupting the skyline of glass and steel. The series will eventually include 20 or so pieces and I am offering the first one in this winter group.

Also, included in the group are a few prints I created in New York City – I love these little gems for their immediate and dynamic quality – it’s been years since I worked in this medium and am happy to return to it. Each print is unique – they are all hand pulled and printed on archival paper in small editions.
