This video was an introduction to our online workshop - it gives a good idea of some of the materials and brushes that you may already have or still to be gathered.

In this video I talk about setting up a still life - something you may like to practice before coming to the workshop and be ready to do once we are all together.

SETTING UP YOUR WORK SPACE

Here is a sample of what a good set up might look like. If you have a desk or dining table you can occupy for the session, that is ideal. Make sure that you have your materials neatly laid out and that you have a palette or plate for mixing, two water jars - one for mixing and one for cleaning the brushes, and several mixing bowls. Good light, either natural or lamp with a tungsten bulb is important, ideally coming from the left if you are right handed and from the right if you are left handed. If you wish you can use masking tape to tape off the edges of the paper and fix the paper to the surface you are working on. If you can leave a fairly large space in front of you empty, that would be best for our work with the compositions for still life paintings.
