Terra Magica IMMERSION

painting workshopS with Tatjana

Explore your creativity in one of the world's most inspiring landscapes, Istria.

october 7TH - 17th 2024

Istria, Croatia

This workshop is a unique opportunity to join Tatjana in her native Istria and immerse yourself in the color and culture of the artist's native land. You will recognize many of Tatjana's inspirations during this week rich in transformative experiences. Every day you will have the opportunity to work individually and in group sessions with Tatjana, who is known for her skill in bringing out people's creative abilities.

Location: Santa Katarina Island, Rovigno, Croatia

There are three regions in the Mediterranean belt renowned worldwide for their unique blend of beauty, culture and history: Provence, Tuscany and Istria. Istria, the least explored of the three, is the largest peninsula in the Adriatic Sea. Veiled in myth and mystery, the ancient Romans named it “Terra Magica”, meaning Magical Land. This land will provide a magnificent and rich locale for our artistic exploration. The organizers, Aspiria, have secured a truly magical location for our work on the island of Santa Katarina. WORKSHOP DETAILS

Tatjana will offer studio and plein aire classes in watercolor and pastel. We will be based on Santa Katarina Island just across the bay from Rovigno (Rovinj) and will take excursions to villages and the countryside of inland Istria coupled with boat trips along the coast, including a visit to Tatjana’s native village of Vrsar. We will visit local markets and vineyards and dine in small taverns and slow food family restaurants. Group instruction includes materials and techniques, introduction to intuitive sketching, and training in letting our creative expression guide us in the opening of our potential. There will be studio classes (3 - 4 hrs each) at our base at Villa Santa Katarina that allow us to drop into the work and receive personal instruction from the artist. This is a unique opportunity to learn from Tatjana and develop our own creative expression and insight.

REGISTRATION for 2024 workshops is open

Tatjana has been a student of meditation for 25 years and she brings her contemplative perspective into her work and teaching. Each day of the workshop begins with a short session of meditation to calm our minds and bring us into greater contact with our senses. Guided awareness exercises while we explore the landscapes of Istria will help us to frame our creative effort and teach us how unfiltered contact with the world around us provokes a deeper appreciation and creative response. The presence and openness we cultivate during this gentle and celebratory immersion in the senses and in the art of contemplation will permeate the rest of daily lives and interactions, be it at work, at home, as artists and in our inner dialogue.

No previous experience is necessary, all levels are welcome. Classes are intimate (8-10 people max.) The cost for the 10 day workshop is $3525 for double occupancy and $4350 for single occupancy. This fee covers lodging and two meals per day (breakfast and a substantial lunch), all excursions and exhibition costs. Airfare not included. Minimum attendance is 6 and maximum 10 people.

In case your plans change you may cancel your reservation and receive a full refund before March 21st 2024, and 50% refund March 21st through April 15th.
